General Conditions
Volaris allows pets to fly as documented luggage as long as they comply with:
- Only Cats and Dogs are Allowed
- Must be in good health and good hygiene
- Pay transportation fee can be consulted here
Restrictions
We do not accept these type of pets:
- Violent
- Dead
- Ill
- In case of female pets they must not be pregnant

We recommend that you have the following certifications with you at all times: vaccination, worming and health

Note: the requirements for the entrance and documentation are subject to change and can change depending on the destination. Volaris cannot keep an update of all the requirements to fly with animals and will not assume responsibility for the compliance of such documentation. We suggest that you contact the consulate, embassy or governmental institution for further information depending on your destination. Important: in case you are flying a round trip, your pet is subject to the requirements of re-entrance to your country of origin.
Transportation
It is necessary that you take your pet in a container, kennel and authorized cage for the trip with the following characteristics:
- Must have a solid and thick cover which will be able to withstand normal transportation
- It must have a maximum weight of 45 kg (100Lbs.), this weight already includes the pet
- Clean and waterproof
- A cage of which the animal cannot escape or scratch its way out, with secure locks
- Well ventilated
- Free of objects that can harm the pet
- Must have:
- A lock mechanism from which the animal cannot escape
- Moldings which will not proper ventilation
- Handles to be able to pick up the cage
- It is not allowed for:
- The platform to be perforated
- Must have wheels & locks
Note: Only one pet per cage. The exception to this would puppies or kittens 8-24 weeks. In this case 2 are allowed per cage as long as they can move freely. Cats and dogs cannot be together in one cage
Recommendations
These are some recommendations for your pet to enjoy the experience of flying
Before the flight
- Get your pet used to the cage that they will be flying in, give it a few days to get used to the cage
- Give it food and water 4 hrs. before the flight
- Include identification tags in the cage which must have:
- Address
- Tel. number
- instructions on how to feed your pet
- Pet’s general information (name, age and sex)
- If it’s taking medicine
- If it’s a puppy or a kitten give it some honey or syrup to keep its glucose level
At the Airport
- Make sure to take a leash in order to walk it before and after the flight
- Do not put food inside the cage
- Make sure that the cage is ventilated on all 4 sides
- Make sure to place kitty litter, newspaper or absorbent material for your pets need. Please avoid colorful materials to avoid intoxications
- It is not recommend for you to sedate your pet according to the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA)and according to IATA norms, in some animals the risk of breathing and heart problems increase
- 5 days previous to the flight
